Nebraska Ave Second Floor Remodel

The master bathroom was dark, cramped, and unattractive- a throwback to the 1930s.  The homeowners wanted to create a serene modern retreat. Their goal was to bring more natural light and materials into the space while keeping clean contemporary lines.  Functionality and ease of cleaning were also important.

Additional space was gained from a small addition over an existing screen porch. While using natural wood and real stone is possible in a bathroom, porcelain tile was chosen for its durability, cost effectiveness, ease of cleaning and the real-look replication of both wood and stone. The greystone honed tile begins the journey into the new space. The floor of the room seamlessly transitions into the shower floor while a “wood” tile accent wall creates a backdrop for the in-line heated jetted tub and a free standing Rainfall shower system – both essential requests for the clients

The remainder of the room is finished with Calcutta porcelain tile which provides a neutral yet rich backdrop for the vanity and reflects the natural light that floods the space.  Two tall, light maple storage towers frame the vanity with undermount sinks in a dark stone top. The styling of these and the choice in fixtures reflect both the masculine and feminine. The soft and strong color palette throughout create a natural look replicated from nature.

The result, a generous, clean and fresh space both modern and sleek in design that enables the clients to experience a spa-like retreat in the privacy of their own home.
