Julia Farr Boutique
The client was opening a high end ladies clothing boutique and wanted to create an atmosphere that conveyed the comfort of home with the exclusivity of the clothing that was to be displayed. 800 square feet would have to accommodate retail space, changing rooms, an ADA compliant bathroom and space to sit and enjoy a glass of wine.
The main entry brings the client into the new “Living Room” space. Here the shopper could come in, relax, enjoy a glass of wine and discuss what she might be looking for. Space was stolen from under the stairs and to create the wet bar. This proved to be an elegant solution and added a home-like element that greets the consumer.
The craftsmanship necessary to install the flower relief wall, the main focal point of the space and background wallpaper for the store’s web site, is unparalleled. Comprised of 32″ x 32″ panels, these need to be attached to the wall, plastered, sanded and finished to hide all the seams. Cooler colors were chosen for the walls to contrast with the woven grass wallpaper installed on the ceiling. The bathroom has an accent wall of Muranio beaded glass wallpaper that glistens. The whitewashed oak hardwood floors add to the warmth while plush carpeting installed in the back of the store’s retail space accentuates the feeling of padding around barefoot in your own bedroom while trying on clothes.
In a society of branding, the repetition of the client’s logo on the interior doors, reinforces the brand. The dressing room doors are backed with a opaque film to provide privacy while the doors to the back storage room have full length curtain behind so that even when the door is open the back room is hidden from the customers.
The overall result of the project was a great success. The client has enjoyed tremendous success in her opening. The desire was to create an oasis and new way of shopping for clothing and this has more than been accomplished.
