Bright and Cheery Chevy Chase Basement
Our clients wanted a finished basement that maximized the space to its fullest potential and be a comfortable area for their family and for visiting guests. They needed functional storage, an additional bedroom, an efficient basement bath as the existing bath only consisted of one toilet, and the rest of the basement to have a more cohesive feel with the rest of the home. It was an assortment of different areas with no true separation of functional space and that needed to change for our clients.
The existing plumbing made for low ceiling heights but by reconfiguring and updating the plumbing, we decided to keep the ceilings open and exposed. By doing so, we were able to have standard ceiling heights throughout. Track lighting that blends into the ceiling provides efficient bright lighting, keeping the clients new space from having that dark basement feel. The exposed ceiling also merged well with the rustic details throughout the home.
We used luxury vinyl flooring, always a smart material for basements that is easy maintanence yet provides the high-end look of hardwood floors. Our next step was designing a full bathroom that is full of charm. The black & white retro tile act as the perfect back drop for the frameless glass shower, marble countertop vanity, and round contemporary mirror depict the perfect blend of line and pattern. Two doors give enterance from both the main living space as well as from the new guest bedroom. The storage areas are now closed off behind doors, keeping the clutter out of sight. The well thought out floor plan encompasses all the needs of our clients by providing adequate storage, a bedroom suite for guests, and a family room for the kids to gather and play games.
